Bringing Local Government Budgeting Up to the Speed of Change

County Communications Director Meagan Kascsak said the new strategic planning dashboard will increase county transparency and allow residents to stay up to date on county projects and department goals and objectives. Several factors were considered in staff’s recommendation.

Budgeting sets the course for what government will and will not do. An initiative from the Government Finance Officers Association is designed to help long-term planning and foster public trust in a “new normal” of uncertainty. A new assessment tool is designed to prompt rethinking of budget processes.

The City of Las Cruces has launched its Strategic Plan Public Dashboard, a platform that provides an interactive snapshot showcasing progress toward the City’s strategic goals.
